Spring Season 2010 Practices

Revised 3/9/06

The Waldorf Cross-Fire will practice Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00pm - 7pm at St Peters School Fields.  Players should arrive by 5:30pm (get ready, stretch & warmup).  We will begin drills at 6pm.  Players should bring a soccer ball and plenty of water to practice and to the games.

The primary purpose of our practices is to get your child/player ready to play high school soccer. Although we will have a mix of 14-18 year old players, our focus will be to get  them ready for high school practices.  No goofing off or fooling around will be tolerated.  If your child/player isn’t interested in learning/playing soccer, then both your time and my time are being wasted!

We believe that attendance at practices is as important as attendance at the games.  We often will work on areas we feel need attention (based on our assessment of the game) at practices.  We also work on situation plays we would like used in the game.  If your child/children didn’t attend the practice, they will be lost when we try the play in the game. Our goal is to develop our players soccer skills this season, as well as develop as a team.  In order to do this we require a committment from the parents, as well as the players.  It is and will continue to be a group effort.

At practices we often show players new techniques and go over situation plays.  The idea is the players learn the new techniques and they practice them on their own on non-practice days to improve their individual skill level.  In addition we have asked the players to run on non-practice days.  Please encourage your child/children to do the above on non-practice days.

Players will be released from practices no later than 7pm.  Parents should be at the field or in the parking lot awaiting the players’ release.
