22 Waldorf Players Chosen for ODP
Congratulations, Kids! Well Done!

The Waldorf Soccer Club had six players from the Rogue (Ashlee, Denai, Courtney, Micaiah, Madison and Gabrielle), five players from the Ice (Luke, Seth, Kyle, Zion and Alexander), seven players from the Fire (Karsyn, Isabel, Joy, Elizabeth, Tailor, Mikayla, and Makenzie), three players from the Blaze (Jordan, Austin, and Isaih), and one player from the Celtic (Nelson) selected to participate in the Maryland Olympic Development Program (ODP) for this year.

These players are the result of great things happening in the Waldorf Soccer Club.  The players have embraced the training program endorsed by the Waldorf Soccer Club, which focuses on player development, the 1st touch, footwork and short combination plays.  This allows players to master ball skills while under pressure and the ability to play in any situation using their techniques to solve problems presented by the game.  This approach allows all players to experiment with different dribble moves to beat opponents and to attack with short combination plays which builds their confidence and intelligence as soccer players.

The US Youth Soccer ODP is a national identification and development program for high-level players.  The program identifies and develops youth players throughout the country to represent their state and regional associations.  At the state association level, pools of players are identified in each eligible age group, and brought together as a team to develop their skill through training and competition.  From the state pools and subsequent teams, players are identified for regional and national pools and teams.  Maryland ODP teams are comprised of the best Maryland players in various age groups.
