Recreational Soccer is primarily devoted to the enjoyment and development of soccer players without the emphasis on travel or high-level competition. The purpose of recreational soccer is to provide an opportunity for the participants to have fun, learn the sport and develop life skills including a lifelong love of the game.
The Waldorf Soccer Club (WSC) Recreational Program is broken up into three different programs (Kiddie Kicks, Junior Academy and Rec) with each one designed to meet the needs of the majority of youth soccer players from ages 3 to 18 years old. They are open programs in which players of all abilities are invited to play and enjoy the game. Every child is guaranteed playing time in an environment that places participation, fun, and skill development above winning.
The Kiddie Kicks and Junior Academy Programs (U4, U6 & U8) are run by certified coaches to ensure our younger players receive the full attention and proper instruction of soccer fundamentals in a fun environment so they develop love for the game and build up skills and confidence to successfully proceed to more competitive levels of play.
The U10 thru U19 Rec Programs are made up of a majority of volunteer coaches, that are assigned a team of random players, without regard to each player's abilities and skills. The U10, U12, U15 and U19 Rec Teams participate in the Charles County Parks and Rec, Southern Maryland Youth Soccer League (SMYSL). They practice at local practice fields, playing games against other WSC, La Plata Youth Soccer Association (LPYSA), Bryans Roads Soccer Association (BRSA) and Southern Maryland Youth Organization (SMYO) Rec Teams at the Bryantown Sports Complex in Bryantown, MD, Laurel Springs Regional Park in La Plata, MD, Pomonkey Annex in Bryans Road, MD and the White Plains Regional Park in White Plains, MD.
If you are interested in volunteering as a coach or assistant coach for a U10 to U19 Rec Team or have additional questions about any of the programs, please contact the VP of Recreational at firstname.lastname@example.org.
